What are the check in and check out times?

What are shepherds huts?

In short, they are a wooden cabin on wheels. Traditionally shepherds would stay in these little huts as they watched their flocks of sheep. We have added a few mod cons and luxe…. I’m pretty sure shepherds didn’t have a kingsized bed & high threadcount, ensuite shower, compost loo and hot tub! What remains true to the shepherds experience is the connection with nature and the simplicity of staying in a small space, without clutter and free from wifi.

Do shepherds huts have electricity?

The shepherds huts are off-grid and we love it that way! We have solar panel electricity which can be used for lighting, fridge and radio. High usage items like hair straighteners, blow dryers will fuse the electrics so please don’t use in the shepherds huts. Phones and laptops can be charged. The longer days in summer give more electricity whereas shorter winter days give less. It’s an opportunity to be mindful of the electricity we use and be sparing with it. If you are really need more, there are power sockets in our homes so we can charge something for you, otherwise the pub and hotel have power if you are eating out there during your stay.

How can we keep our food cool during our stay?

We supply a small fridge in each hut. If you have a cool box then bring it as it can be stored under the hut for any bigger items or ice. We don’t have a freezer.

Glamping, what to pack?

Bring clothes for warm and cold weather, even in summer the nights are cool. Wellies in winter. Flipflops / sandals to go to and from the hot tub. Good food, we supply dry cupboard basics like sugar, tea, coffee, oil and we give you a hamper of bread, milk, butter to get you started. A good book. A head torch is handy for walking back from the pub.

Its easiest to get to us by car. Glamping without a car? We can also be accessed by bus, train, taxi and bike! Buses stop in the village four times per day. Train stations locally are Kemble (9 miles) and Swindon (18 miles) with Bristol Airport around 1.15 hours drive away. Given the huts are quite remote, coming on foot means plenty of walking! Cars are useful but not essential to your stay.
